Does TfL manage to do *anything* on time? (Other than increase fares, of
course).

And people apparently want the whole of the UK's railway system to
follow this prime example of public sector transport clusterfuck.

In other news, watching people on TV moaning about commuter fares rising
in the North-East and possible disastrous outcomes like "car sharing
instead" or "getting a job closer to home"... Yes, those are precisely
kinds of things which would relieve pressure from the railways, without
excessively increasing it elsewhere.

I'm a longstanding critic of TfL so I find it interesting that more
and more people are becoming disenchanted with that organisation.

I'm not sure TfL is worse then it used to be. The enthusiasm for
damaging London's road system is unchanged; the eagerness
to spend vast sums for small returns is nothing new; the inability
to secure good results from a modest outlay has been obvious
from the beginning.

I hope those in a position to hold TfL to account will take note
of the growing dissatisfaction with TfL's performance

The thing I don't understand is that if they are getting two new ferries
to replace the old ones, why didn't they keep the old ones available or
in use until the new ones had successfully completed their trials?

I doubt there's been much modification of the loading ramps, as the
boats look very similar.

I think there is. Part of the project was to build new floating pontoon
berths with an automatic mooring system. The delay is while they test this.

Delayed to February now. They should go for "indefinite" like Crossrail.

South of England seems to be having trouble with ferries at the moment,
Cowes lots of problems since new vessel brought in. Sandbanks ,came back
from refit in December promptly broke down after a day and hasn’t worked
since. including the planned refit period that means practically no ferry
since October, and now Woolwich. As my gran used to say ,there must be
something in the Water.

"But the limited service has been reduced to no service after the berths
were damaged by the river, requiring the ferry to be suspended until the
repair work is completed."

Damaged by the river! I've heard of bikinis that need to be kept dry,
but a pier that needs to be kept dry is a new one on me.
