Instead now it seems you have to download their pathetic app. Brilliant.
Who wants to look at the map on a large monitor when you can squint at it on
a pokey phone screen instead. Truly there is no beginning of their talents.

Perhaps Sir needs to exercise his extensive IT skills and install an
Android emulator on his desktop PC?

Like I did in 2016.

Sure, why don't I waste time just installing some VM in order to run some poxy
app - assuming I could even download it - to make up for the functionality
they've deliberately removed from their website for no good reason OTHER than
probably to make you use their poxy app and presumably harvest lots of tasty
personal details.

I'll pass.

I get the feeling if the dustman asked you to you'd wheel your bin up to the
lorry and operate it yourself instead of complaining to the council.

<shrug> You have that choice.

They already did 95% of that when insisting it was at the kerbside. And
then leaving it in the road for you to retrieve later.

He has a point though - I found the map useful on my Mac and there doesn't seem to be a good reason to remove it and put it only on mobile apps. Emulating iOS or Android isn't that easy and I gave up trying Mac apps. TFL has a duty to maintain cross-platform working IMO.

I'm genuinely surprised given the Church-of-Jobs thing that a Mac won't
run iOS apps for all their three platforms.

Yes, I think they should provide for both Android and iPhone, but the
battle over Desktop vs Smartphone was lost some time ago. I keep finding
people (latest being station parking apps) who talk about "going to
their website" complete with url, but when you get there all it does is
tell you to download one or other app.

I think the Apple plan is to merge MacOS and iOS on Apple Silicon but it hasn't happened.

In my experience most apps I use do have dual desktop/mobile working - Ringgo parking, HSBC/Tide bank accounts, WhatsApp etc. but sometimes you have to authenticate the desktop browser site with a mobile login. It's true that some features are only available on the mobile side but TFL should not be doing this.

AFAIK the OS kernels have been the same for a while now. They only differ
in drivers and GUI.

TFL should rename at least part of the DLR to the Android Line.

And the other part as the Mac Line?
